In Togo, Cyber Defense Africa, the operational branch of the National Cybersecurity Agency (ANCy), is set to relocate to new facilities. The construction of its headquarters commenced last week, following the foundation stone ceremony led by the ministers overseeing the digital economy and security.
This initiative encompasses a cutting-edge operations center, a training and excellence facility, and a hub for innovation and research. Cina Lawson, the Minister for the Digital Economy, stated that the goal of this project is to proactively address digital challenges and strengthen the nation’s digital sovereignty.
The building, which will span an area of 1,000 m², is anticipated to be completed within nine months, as per Togolese officials. This new headquarters will not only enhance the visibility and efficiency of Cyber Defense Africa but will also accommodate the National Cybersecurity Incident Response Center (CERT), aligning with the national strategy to safeguard citizens’ data.
Established in September 2019, Cyber Defense Africa operates as a simplified joint-stock company with a capital of 1.9 billion FCFA, resulting from a collaboration between the Togolese Republic and Asseco Data Systems SA. Tasked by the government, it is responsible for securing the nation’s information systems both domestically and internationally.
