In Togo, licensed customs agents, organized under the Union of Professionals of Licensed Customs Agents (UPRAD), are participating in a training session on Thursday, March 13, 2025, focused on enhancing their administrative and financial management skills. This event, coordinated by the association’s leadership, reflects a commitment to modernizing the sector to bolster its contribution to the national economy.
The training will address key topics such as corporate law, accounting, and taxation. Patrick Magnon, President of UPRAD, stated that exploring these subjects will enable commission agents to better manage their operations by gaining a clearer understanding of their tax responsibilities.
Additionally, the session aims to assist agents in adapting to digitalization processes and the new regulations that govern international trade. As state-appointed commission agents responsible for tax collection, they play a vital role in generating public revenue.
“If our organizations grasp these mechanisms and implement them effectively, it will benefit everyone by ensuring a smooth flow of funds into the state treasury,” emphasized Dodji Akakpo, the association’s Secretary General.
This initiative is part of UPRAD’s ongoing efforts since 2023 to combat tax evasion and enhance the security of trade transactions.
