Togo: Launch an Investment Fund for Start-Ups in Partnership with the AFDB.

In Togo, the government is considering the creation of a Business Preparation Fund for Capital Investment. This initiative, supported by the Transition Support Facility of the African Development Bank (AfDB), seeks to enhance capital financing opportunities for Togolese businesses, especially start-ups.

Private equity investment enables investors to provide direct funding to a company, typically in return for equity stakes in that business.

In Togo, the establishment of such infrastructure could significantly aid in fostering the growth of the private sector, particularly for start-ups and businesses in their expansion phase. This initiative would encompass not only preparing these companies for financing opportunities but also offering training, consultations, and support in legal and organizational structuring, as well as in the assessment and selection of projects that qualify for capital financing.

This initiative is part of the Support Project for the Promotion of Investments and the Development of Public-Private Partnerships (PAPIDPPP) and is currently open for expressions of interest (AMI) from the Ministry of Industry and Investment Promotion.

The ministerial department is seeking a consulting firm to conduct a feasibility study on this matter.

This study will encompass a comprehensive evaluation of the fund’s viability, the establishment of a strategic framework, an examination of the legal and institutional context, and the development of a detailed operational model.

Consultants interested in this opportunity must provide evidence of their qualifications through references for similar services and relevant experience in comparable projects. Applications are due by March 15, 2025, at 17:00 (UTC). A shortlist of six firms will be created based on this selection process.
