In Togo, the Togolese Society of Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Infections (SOTODERM) has initiated a teledermatology project aimed at enhancing the diagnosis and management of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) affecting the skin. This initiative leverages information and communication technologies (ICT) to achieve its goals.
Launched last week in collaboration with the German Aid against Leprosy and Tuberculosis (DAHW), the project seeks to tackle two significant issues: the limited number of dermatologists in the country and the widespread occurrence of skin diseases, especially in rural regions.

The program will extend its reach to 15 districts across the Maritime, Plateaux, Centrale, Kara, and Savanes regions. It will focus on diseases such as Buruli ulcer, leprosy, scabies, leishmaniasis, and conditions that require preventive treatment, including onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis.
Spanning a period of just over four years (51 months), this initiative represents an investment of 550,000 euros, equivalent to more than 350 million CFA francs.
