Togo: More Electricity Supply Interruptions Expected in March.

In Togo, following a February characterized by disruptions in electrical energy supply due to maintenance on the WAPco gas pipeline, new challenges are anticipated in March 2025. An official statement from the Compagnie Énergie Électrique du Togo (CEET) indicates that supply interruptions may occur between March 4 and 25, as similar maintenance is scheduled for one of the country’s thermal power plants.

In response to this upcoming challenge, Togolese authorities, in collaboration with CEET, aim to mitigate the impact of these operations on electricity availability. As was the case in February, additional measures will be implemented, including increased energy imports. Nevertheless, the company warns that outages may still happen during peak consumption periods.

Last month, to address the temporary closure of the gas pipeline, Togo utilized liquid fuels to operate its thermal power plants and ramped up electricity imports. This approach enabled the injection of up to 35 MW of extra power into the national grid.
