Togo: ONAT Warns against Illegal Architectural Practices.

The Higher Council of the National Order of Architects of Togo (ONAT) has raised concerns regarding the increasing incidents of unauthorized practice and impersonation within the architectural field.

In a press release issued on Thursday, March 13, the organization emphasized that the profession is governed by strict legal regulations, and any violations may result in legal consequences.

ONAT specifically highlights individuals who engage in designing and executing construction projects without proper registration with the Order, an act that is subject to legal penalties. The organization encourages both citizens and businesses to verify the credentials of professionals before entering into any agreements.

“The Higher Council of the Order (CSO) urges the public to exercise greater caution. It is essential to confirm that the individual you are consulting is legally permitted to practice architecture in Togo,” the statement notes.

In an industry where adherence to technical and urban planning regulations is critical, this deviation from the standards set by the Order of Architects serves as a significant warning, particularly as construction remains a pressing issue for consumers in Togo.

Furthermore, ONAT calls upon government authorities and stakeholders in the construction sector to enhance their vigilance to ensure a safe built environment that aligns with existing regulations.
