Poultry production in Togo is projected to reach 38.6 million birds in 2024, as reported by the Ministry of Livestock and published by the Ministry of Economy and Finance through the Citizen Budget. This figure aligns with the government’s estimate of 38 million birds for the year.
This production level represents an 8% increase from the 35.7 million birds recorded in 2023.
The primary contributor to this growth is the Plateaux region, which produced 13 million birds in 2024, accounting for nearly 34% of the national output. In the previous year, this region had yielded just over 12 million birds.
Following the Plateaux region, the Savanes region has established itself as the second-largest poultry production area in the country, maintaining a steady output of 8 million birds in 2023, the same as in 2022. Other regions are also playing a role in the sector’s expansion: the Centrale and Kara regions produced 6 million and 5 million birds, respectively, while the Maritime region contributed 4.8 million.

Looking ahead to 2025, production is anticipated to exceed 41 million birds. Beyond meeting these numerical goals, the authorities face the challenge of developing a robust value chain within the poultry industry.
