In Togo, maintenance activities at one of the thermal power plants within the national production park, which were originally set to conclude on March 25, will now extend until April 15. This update was communicated by the Togo Electricity Company (CEET) late last week, which also warned of potential power outages during this period.
The delay is attributed to the necessity for further technical work to guarantee the unit’s optimal performance and the reliability of the electricity supply. Consequently, a shortfall in electricity availability is anticipated, leading to interruptions in service throughout this timeframe.

To alleviate the impact on energy distribution, measures have been announced. Similar to the arrangements made in February and March, backup strategies will be implemented, including increased electricity imports.
Last month, in response to the temporary shutdown of the pipeline, the country utilized liquid fuels to operate its thermal power plants while ramping up imports. This approach enabled the addition of up to 35 MW of extra electricity to the national grid.
