Last week in Lomé, over a hundred students, researchers, and educators participated in a training session focused on MOSAIKS, a spatial data analysis technology created by the American institutions UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara.
The workshop, held on March 22, 2025, was organized by Togo Data Lab with assistance from ProDigiT (GIZ Togo) and aimed to make artificial intelligence applications for satellite imagery more accessible.

According to Komlan Agbo, a doctoral student in geography, “this tool presents unprecedented opportunities for applied development research.”
Additionally, Togo Data Lab is already looking to broaden access to this training and enhance technical support for local researchers.
The ultimate goal is to empower the national workforce to make informed decisions based on reliable data.
