Togo: Russian Uniconf aims at Cocoa Industry.

The Russian firm Uniconf (United Confectioners), which specializes in the confectionery sector, is seeking to partner with cocoa producers in Togo. A delegation from the company commenced its visit to Lomé on February 27, 2025, to investigate potential investment opportunities within the industry.

Headed by Sergey Lyubimov, a manager within the group, this exploratory mission is set to conclude on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, and has already engaged with local business stakeholders. The discussions have centered on Uniconf’s goals and its proposed investment initiatives in Togo, particularly focusing on the cocoa industry.

Specifically, Uniconf’s anticipated investments will target the processing and marketing of Togolese cocoa. In this context, the Russian delegation has sought information regarding the existing regulatory and fiscal environment in Togo to explore potential collaborations with local entities and to consider establishing a sustainable presence in the region.

According to the CCI-Togo, this partnership could significantly enhance the development of the Togolese cocoa sector by promoting industrialization and generating employment opportunities. Cocoa ranks as the third most important cash crop in Togo, following cotton and coffee, and thus receives considerable attention from government authorities.
