Togo: Progress Update on Lomé Airport Expansion
In Togo, the expansion of Gnassingbé Eyadema International Airport (AIGE) is advancing steadily. During an unexpected site visit on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Prime Minister Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé expressed her approval of the ongoing work and commended the dedication of the teams involved.
New Parking Facilities for Large Aircraft
The modernization project, overseen by the Lomé-Tokoin Airport Company (SALT), includes the terminal’s expansion, the construction of two parking areas for large aircraft (code E), which are nearly complete at 99%, and the refurbishment of commercial spaces.
According to Michel Tchangani, Deputy Director General of SALT, these enhancements are essential to accommodate the increasing traffic, particularly from Asky, which has recently doubled its passenger numbers and expanded its fleet, aiming to operate 17 aircraft by year-end, and Ethiopian Airlines, which currently offers five weekly flights to Lomé.

Additionally, the redevelopment of the new freight station will enhance the airport’s logistics capabilities for both imports and exports.
For the Togolese government, this initiative aligns with their goal of establishing Togo as a prominent logistics and aviation hub.
