Togo will Implement a New National Industrial Policy.

In Togo, the government is in the process of formulating a new National Industrial Policy (PNI). This strategic initiative, crafted under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Investment Promotion in partnership with the Ministry of Planning and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, seeks to enhance manufacturing output and elevate the industrial sector’s contribution to the national GDP.

In line with the objectives outlined in the Togo 2025 government roadmap, the PNI is designed to expedite the processing of local raw materials, expand the proportion of industrial exports, and significantly lower unemployment rates by 2040.

To realize these goals, two primary focus areas have been established: the creation of competitive clusters and the enhancement of key factors that influence industrial competitiveness.

A workshop conducted on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in Lomé, facilitated the refinement of this strategic document by incorporating suggestions related to innovation, energy, environmental concerns, and decent employment. This development is expected to lead to the forthcoming implementation of this policy.

The supervisory ministry has indicated that a five-year strategy, along with an action plan, will support its execution.
