Since May 9, regional stakeholders from the Kara and Savanes councils in Dapaong have been participating in a training workshop focused on the technical and legal aspects of public procurement. The workshop, concluding this Tuesday, May 13, 2025, is being conducted by the National Agency for Training of Local Authorities (ANFCT), with support from the World Bank, as part of the Public Administration Modernization Program for Service Delivery (PMADS).
The objective is to equip elected officials and regional staff with the necessary tools to manage public procurement effectively. Banlepo Nabaguedjoa, president of the Savanes Regional Council, emphasized that “every public franc must provide concrete benefits to citizens.”
The training covers various modules, including the regulatory framework for public procurement, the development of procurement plans, the drafting of competitive bidding budgets, and the monitoring and execution of contracts.
This capacity-building initiative is part of the government’s decentralization roadmap and aims to professionalize the new local teams resulting from regionalization, while minimizing the risks of non-compliance or mismanagement of resources.
According to Denyo Komi Dodzi, Director General of ANFCT, this training addresses “a critical need to align local practices with national and international standards.”
