Two Arrested Over Murder of Chinese Businessman in Ogun State

The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended two suspects linked to the gruesome killing of Mr. Chen Wang, a Chinese national and managing director of WH Great Resource Ltd., in Ogere, Ogun State.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the incident occurred on January 12, 2025. According to him, the Ogun State Police Command received a distress call following the discovery of Mr. Wang’s lifeless body inside his office at the company’s premises.

Police officers swiftly arrived at the scene, securing the area and launching a full-scale investigation. Preliminary evidence pointed to a violent assault, prompting detectives from the homicide unit to intensify efforts to track down those responsible.

Following a coordinated operation involving intelligence gathering and forensic analysis, two suspects were arrested in connection with the crime. While their identities are being withheld pending further investigation, authorities have confirmed that both individuals are currently in custody and assisting with inquiries.

ACP Adejobi stated that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has been briefed on the incident and has directed the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) to take over the case to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation.

He also assured the public and international community that justice would be served. “The Nigeria Police Force is committed to ensuring that those behind this senseless act are brought to justice. We extend our condolences to the family of Mr. Chen Wang, his colleagues, and the Chinese community in Nigeria,” he said.

The incident has raised concerns within the industrial sector in Ogun State, where WH Great Resource Ltd. operates as a key employer and contributor to local economic development. In response, the police have stepped up security patrols in the area and are engaging with stakeholders to prevent similar occurrences.

Investigations are ongoing, and the Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any information that may aid the case. Further updates are expected as detectives work to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the murder.
