The United Nations System (UNS) will support the National Assembly of Togo in its digital transition. The project, still in development, was discussed at a meeting last week, specifically on Friday, May 30, 2025, between the President of the National Assembly, Kodjo Sevon-Tépé Adédzé, and the Resident Coordinator of the UNS in Togo, Coumba Sow.
The two parties discussed the digitalization of parliamentary procedures, with the goal of improving the performance and transparency of the legislative institution. The stated objective is to streamline internal processes, strengthen legislative efficiency, and bring the institution closer to citizens.
“Digitization would allow MPs to save time and increase efficiency in the regular implementation of their work and programs,” said Ms. Sow, who also reaffirmed the operational support of the UNDP.
The meeting also highlighted the Youth Parliament project, led by President Adédzé, which aims to stimulate civic and political engagement among Togolese youth.
This dynamic was welcomed by the UNS, in a context of institutional overhaul, with the entry into force of the Fifth Republic.
