The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) intends to enhance its collaboration with Togo in four key priority areas. This topic was discussed on Monday, May 12, 2025, in Lomé, between the ECA’s Executive Secretary, Clavier Gazette, and the President of the Togolese Council, Faure Gnassingbé. The discussion occurred during the first conference on public debt in Africa, which concludes this Wednesday, May 14, in Lomé.
The cooperation will concentrate on implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), improving statistics through the recalibration of gross domestic product (GDP), strengthening technological capacity in taxation to increase the tax-to-GDP ratio, and enhancing the effectiveness of government action. The ECA stated that its support in these areas is aimed at boosting Togo’s economic development.
