In Togo, the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) is urging beneficiaries of the Universal Health Insurance (AMU) cards to pick up their documents, with 12,000 cards issued over the past few months. This includes 11,500 active insured cards and 541 for retirees, which are crucial for accessing necessary healthcare services.
“These cards are vital for ensuring quick and effective access to medical care,” stated Ingrid Awadé, the Director General of the CNSS, on March 26.
The CNSS has also announced that policyholders can now retrieve their cards independently, even if their employers have not yet collected them, as long as they present valid identification.

To enhance AMU coverage, the CNSS has improved its services by establishing regional centers in Atakpamé and Kara, as well as deploying mobile units to reach remote areas. Additionally, specialized counters for emergencies, prior agreements, and chronic illnesses have been set up at the headquarters.
The management of the AMU is divided between the INAM for the public sector and the CNSS for the private sector.
