First Lady Tinubu Pushes Urgent Action On Child Malnutrition

Wife of the president, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has canvassed urgent government attention to end malnutrition among children in the country.

Speaking on Monday in Maiduguri at the inauguration of the North-east zone of the National Community Food Bank Programme (NCFBP) for vulnerable malnourished mothers, pregnant women and children between the ages of zero to six years, Mrs Tinubu stressed that child malnutrition was a pressing national priority that required urgent attention.

According to her, millions of Nigerian children still lack access to adequate nutrition.

She stated that it was one of the reasons the federal government was expanding the National Community Food Bank Programme across the country to supply food to those who needed it most.

She also disclosed that the initiative aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, calling for more partnerships for the programme.

On April 2, 2026, the National Community Food Bank Trust Fund was officially launched and the Board of Trustees was inaugurated at State House Conference Hall, Abuja.

North-east is a major beneficiary of the National Community Food Bank initiative, which aims to support 500,000 households nationwide with nutritious food, focusing on pregnant women, vulnerable children under six, and disadvantaged communities.

Similarly, on Monday, Mrs. Tinubu inaugurated a Nurses Quarters and two Junior and Secondary Schools in the State.
